Faced with strong protests and serious threats from alleged Shiv
Sainiks over her decision to defend the 26/11 Mumbai attacker, the
woman defence lawyer Anjali Waghmare has sought increased security
cover for her to go ahead with the case.
Expressing concern about her family's security, she had informed the
sessions court that she will take up the case only if necessary
security is provided. And the government has assured her that security
will be provided throughout the trial.
On her demand, the State government is providing her with 'Z'
category security cover which means several secuity personnels
including armed guards and escort vehicle.
