Volkswagen India today announced its participation in the Mumbai International Motor Show (MIMS) organized by the Times Group in Mumbai from 15th to 18th January 2009.
The first of its kind Motor Show to be organized in Western India, MIMS being held at the MMRDA Grounds at the Bandra Kurla Complex is intended to be a bi-annual event to held alternating with the Auto Expo New Delhi in the auto show circuit.
"Western India offers Volkswagen tremendous potential in terms of a market and through our participation in MIMS, we hope to further strengthen Volkswagen as a brand in this part of the country. More so, with the Chakan plant, Volkswagen's first manufacturing facility in India coming up near Pune, Western India is a very prominent destination for Volkswagen in India," said Mr. Joerg Mueller, President and Managing Director of Volkswagen Group India who is also in charge of Volkswagen Brand India.
At MIMS, Volkswagen plans to showcase four of its car models
- Passat Passat TDI 2.0 Exclusive DSG which was launched in India in September 2007
- Jetta Jetta TDI 1.9 Comfortline DSG which was launched in India in July 2008
- Touareg Touareg V6 3,0L TDI available in India as a direct import
- New Beetle New Beetle 1.6L MPI available in India as a direct import
The event promises to showcase some of the major highlights Indian automotive users would get to see by next year with a range of new cars, SUVs and bikes being showcased for the first time in the country. It is expected that there would be at least three all new cars being launched at MIMS along with a host of others scheduled for the later part of the year.
