Local companies in Pune finding talent online
Sunday 21 September 2008

The growing organized sector in India is expected to create an additional one million jobs in 2008, with a prediction of 3 per cent growth in employment in 2008. Only faster mediums like job portals can quickly build this human chain to satisfy the demand. Indian online industry has already touched Rs80 million per annum benchmark and it would cross Rs100 million by next year.

Today companies from across all sectors and industries utilize online recruitment as it brings faster and effective results in today's fast paced world. The penetration of online recruitment is not only seen in large organized players in the country. In fact, a closer look at the trends indicate that local companies across cities are today reaching out to online job portals to fulfill their local job requirements too.

Confirming this trend Pune's leading job portal, www.myJobsinpune.com has a huge list of local companies signing up daily with them looking for accountants, mechanics, architects and engineers. Mr. Saurabh Shroff, Head marketing of myJobsinPune.com states, "These companies usually have no history of using the Internet as a tool for recruitment earlier. The change in approach today is predominantly due to the fact that online recruitment curbs expenditure and lengthy time-consuming traditional procedures."

Gone are the days when online recruitment was the exclusive domain of the technologically savvy, the curious and the ultra-sophisticated. Today, with this medium tried, tested and proven to be true and more importantly indispensable, professional recruiters and employers alike rely on job portals as a primary source of professional talent both on a stand-alone basis and in some cases to complement traditional hiring methods.

World Class Bike Services Center, Crystal Arch (architecture firm), Tejas Constructions, Vithai Placement (consultants) are a few of the first local companies in Pune to join hands with www.myjobsinpune.com for online recruitment. Similarly, local companies in the construction, chemical, textile, hardware industry, which till date did not require being tech or Internet savvy, have gradually started turning to online job portals for manpower requirements.Job portals also help ranking the candidates most compatible with a job description and contextual search, which can for example limit a hunt to only candidates who have used a certain skill in the past year or who live within 20 km or search for a term within a specific section of the resume. A Job portal hence comes as a transparent medium between the recruiter and the job seeker.
