Bachchan's house on high alert

In the wake of clashes between the MNS and Samajwadi Party (SP) supporters, security has been heightened at actor Amitabh Bachchan's residence. Bachchan's house 'Prateeksha' in Juhu, Mumbai was already put on alert following the MNS chief verbal attack on the superstar calling him a loyalist of Uttar Pradesh rather than that of Maharashtra. His other home in Mumbai is also under security cover. There were also reports of attack on some theatres screening Bhojpuri films and attacks on North Indian taxi drivers and vendors during Sunday's violence between MNS and SP activists. With vilolence turning ugly, Centre had also asked the state government to take immediate steps to maintain law and order in the State. Mumbai was also put on high alert after incidents of violence, however there are no fresh incidents of attack. --MP
