Renowned social worker and moral leader Baba Amte passed away in Chandrapur district of Maharashtra on Saturday morning at 4:15 am. He was suffering from blood cancer.

Baba who was a great follower of Gandhihas always practised Gandhism throughout his life. He was deeply engaged with care and rehabilitation of leprosy victims. His community development project at Anandwan is well known to all.

 

He was also involved with the Narmada Bacho Andolan and worked for wildlife preservation. Baba Amte is survived by 2 sons and both are engaged with active social work.
